Farseek Mercenaries Series Parallel Stories

Hi Readers:

I feel the need to clarify something that was mentioned in one of your reviews. Honestly, I wasn't trying to slip anything by you in Lieutenant's Mate.

One reader complained that some of the same events happened in Book 2 as in Book 1. I did this because the characters in each book of the series have experienced the same events from different perspectives. Depending on their part in the same chain of events I tried to show their unique experience of their take on the shared event,

Believe me, I kept that in mind as I was writing the third book in the series Sahvin's Mate. The story opens with Sahvin, a Narovian feline is rescued from slavery in the mining colony on the planet Breskaa. In Book 3 this event is told from Sahvin's point of view.  We learned in Book 1 that Nora Reed is his meomee or soul mate. Then they go off together and we don't hear much about them until the end of Book 2.

Book 3 is Sahvin's and Nora's experience of the chain of events from the Breskaa rescue on. Book 4 will tell the story of Zoe Addison and her mate who is revealed in Book 3.

My plan wasn't to write the same story four times but to show four different experiences of the same chain of events. Making it unfold this way told from alternating points of view from eight characters would be much harder to follow than two at a time.

I am hoping the reader who wasn't happy with the structure of the series will give it another try. I think Sahvin is one of the best characters so far. But, I almost always think the one I am writing or just wrote is the best so far.

Farseek Mercenaries Series Continues

As I am still writing the third book in the Farseek Mercenary Series, I find a review from a reader of  Book 2, Lieutenant's Mate expressing disappointment that some of the same events were depicted in Book 1 of the series. The purpose of this retelling is to show shared events from the new couple's view point.

The series is consists of four romances of four couples whose lives intersect through one series of events. Because the books are written in first person alternating points of view in the same timeline, it's almost impossible to avoid talking about events from the previous book. Each person plays a different part in the same series events.

Rather than write one book with all the characters in third person, I am writing four books about four couples experiencing the same chain of events.

It all starts in the present with four Earth women who are abducted by alien slavers. They bond on the slave ship before they are rescued by the Farseek Mercenaries. They stick together because of their common origin.

Each of the four find their fated mates or soul mates among the alien mercenaries, and the people abducted by slavers that the mercenaries rescue. Book Three, Sahvin's Mate is a crossover from the Narovian Mates Series, as Sahvin is a Narovian feline abducted from earth where he was serving the Alliance as a covert agent.

As the story opens, he has been enslaved at the Breskaa mining colony for months, forced into hard labor, underfed and mistreated. Believing he is going to die there, he has nearly given up hope. Enter Commander Maktu and his mercenaries.

On Dreadnaught One, Sahvin meets Nora from Earth recognizing her immediately as his meomee, the Narovian word for soul mate. This event was portrayed in Book 1 but told from the viewpoint of Harper Avery and Zared Maktu. Sahvin's experience of the event is wholly different than their experience. It also differs from Pyrr's and Scarlet's experiences as well.

I am continuing the series with Mated to the Alien Star Ship Captain as the first installment. Each segment can be read as a standalone but will tie into the series. When the collection is finished, it will become Narovian Mates II.

All of the stories are based on a fated mates premise, but with a pseudo-scientific explanation for the phenomena. When they meet, pheromones given off by the alien cause a female who is his genetic complement to desire him so intensely that they must have sex almost immediately and continue the sexual bonding process for 7-10 days. There is always a HEA ending, but I'm taking is a little further.

I did this in the Raptor One novel. First the alien Captain Merrek finds his mate on a mission to rescue Earth women abducted by alien slavers. Others in the Raptor One crew find their mates as they fight to keep non-Alliance aliens from abducting people from Earth to be sold into slavery.

So we have a little space opera going on in the back ground and we see Captain Merrek's relationship with his mate evolve as new relationships unfold among other crew members and their human mates. In Narovian Mates II, human women are going to Narova to accept their feline mates and live there with them and adjust to a new culture and language. There will be no shortage of sexual bonding, but there will be a story and a loving relationship developing in the mix.

Like many writers, I write the kind of stories I like to read. I am also an ARC reader for other authors in the scifi romance genre. When I do and ARC review, if I don't like the story or find it deeply flawed, I send a personal email to the author as a constructive critique. That gives them the opportunity to decide whether to revise or not without badmouthing their work publicly. Other readers might like it just fine and give it glowing reviews.

Sometimes, I've read snarky negative reviews on the same books I read and wonder it they actually read the same book I read---and vice versa. 

As a writer, I realize my Narovian Mates Series is not for everyone. They are basically erotic romances but there is more to it than just hot sex. The story isn't over. I am already working on  the next segment. The Narovian Mates stories are sequential with a happy ending for each one.  I absolutely hate cliff hangers that are only a segment of the story with no resolution until two or three volumes later.

I am already writing the next segment of this story which is set in the same universe and time line.  I contains many of the same characters, but will center on other characters romances. As soon as "Mated to the Alien Star Ship Captain" comes off the giveaway, it will be available to read free on Kindle Unlimited.
